CANADA-ALBERTA PRODUCTIVITY GRANT ELIGIBLE

A 24-hour, instructor-led program that takes your team from “I’ve heard of ChatGPT” to deploying AI agents that do real work. Delivered in four workshops over 5.5 weeks — in person, remote, and with one-on-one support throughout.

Most AI training teaches people what AI is. This one changes how they work.

Your team leaves with a prompt library built around their actual tasks, working automations running in your existing tools, and a costed 90-day plan for the operational problem they chose to solve. Every hour is CAPG-eligible.

Built to Meet CAPG Requirements — Not Retrofitted to Them

CAPG funds a specific kind of training, and it explicitly excludes basic skills, soft skills, and interpersonal development. This program was designed inside those rules.

  • ✔ Qualifies under two CAPG training categories — Digital & Technological Skills, and Business Process & Operations Management
  • ✔ 24 hours of live, instructor-led training — participants interact with a qualified instructor throughout; no self-study modules
  • ✔ Delivered in Alberta, in person and remotely, well within the 52-week completion window
  • ✔ Canada Career Training is an arm’s-length third-party provider — training is our main business activity, and we have no employment relationship with your trainees
  • ✔ Full reimbursement documentation supplied — course description, training schedule, cost breakdown, attendance records, and certificates of completion

We prepare the documentation package your application needs. You approve it and submit.

Four Workshops. Eight Modules. One Working System.

The program moves through four stages. Each workshop pairs two modules and ends with something your team has actually built — not notes they’ll never reopen.

Workshop 1 — Foundations & Prompt Craft · Stage 1: Understand · 5.5 hours · In person

Modules 1 & 2. The entry point. Your team builds an accurate mental model of what AI is, a clear view of what it can’t do, and a reusable prompt library for the tasks they repeat every week.

They will learn to:

  • Tell the difference between AI and a search engine, and understand how large language models actually generate output
  • Identify where AI performs well and where it fails
  • Navigate the 2026 tool landscape — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot
  • Apply Canadian privacy principles (PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA) to your organization’s data
  • Apply the five elements of an effective prompt: Role, Context, Task, Format, Constraints
  • Use few-shot examples, chain-of-thought prompting, and persona assignment
  • Refine output through iterative, multi-turn conversations

They leave with: A platform comparison exercise, a prompt library of at least five templates built for your business, and a documented view of where AI fits in their role.

Workshop 2 — Writing, Data & Decisions · Stage 2: Converse · 6.5 hours · Remote session + in person

Modules 3 & 4. The productivity payoff. Writing that took an hour takes two minutes. Data that sat unexamined starts answering questions in plain language.

They will learn to:

  • Draft professional emails, client communications, and status updates in under two minutes
  • Generate structured reports and executive summaries from raw notes
  • Use AI as an editor for grammar, tone, and reading level
  • Produce multi-channel content — internal memo, client email, social post — from a single input
  • Ask natural-language questions about business data without formulas or pivot tables
  • Clean, standardize, and organize messy datasets
  • Generate charts, trend lines, and comparative tables, and build the narrative that explains them
  • Construct pro/con analyses, scenario comparisons, and risk assessments

They leave with: A complete content package produced with AI, plus a data insight briefing containing a cleaned dataset, three findings, and a generated visualization.

Workshop 3 — Automation & Collaboration · Stage 3: Integrate · 6.5 hours · Remote session + in person

Modules 5 & 6. Where AI stops being something your team opens and becomes infrastructure running underneath the workday.

They will learn to:

  • Map their work week to find the repetitive tasks worth automating
  • Use the effort-impact matrix to prioritize which automations to build first
  • Build working automations in Zapier, Make, or Microsoft Power Automate — auto-saving attachments, CRM task creation, appointment reminder flows
  • Activate and use Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini inside the tools they already have
  • Use AI meeting tools to transcribe, summarize, and extract action items automatically
  • Generate project plans, timelines, and status reports
  • Build a searchable knowledge repository from scattered documents
  • Reduce notification overload with AI-assisted Teams and Slack workflows

They leave with: A live, working automation built and demonstrated, and a complete meeting-to-action pipeline — transcript through to follow-up email.

Workshop 4 — Agentic AI & Capstone · Stage 4: Command · 5.5 hours · Remote session, practicum week, in-person capstone

Modules 7 & 8. The step from instructing AI to delegating to it — and then proving what it’s worth.

They will learn to:

  • Distinguish conversational AI from agentic AI that executes multi-step tasks on its own
  • Configure AI agents with appropriate permissions and boundaries
  • Delegate real work to an agent — organizing files, summarizing documents, drafting reports
  • Apply safety, permission, and data sovereignty considerations for responsible agent use
  • Scope a real productivity problem in your organization and build the solution for it
  • Calculate ROI using time saved, cost reduction, and error reduction

They leave with: A documented agent deployment, and the Capstone Workplace AI Productivity Plan — a five-minute presentation covering the problem, the solution, a live demonstration, an ROI projection, and a 90-day implementation roadmap.

One-on-one office hours run between every scheduled workshop, so participants can apply what they’ve learned to their own role with facilitator guidance. This is where most of the real behaviour change happens.

Your Team Doesn’t Just Attend. They Build.

Assessment is practical and performance-based, matching CAPG’s emphasis on measurable productivity outcomes. Participants build a progressive portfolio across all four workshops, then present a capstone project addressing a real operational challenge in your organization.

The capstone presentation covers:

  • A problem statement with baseline metrics — hours spent on manual work, volume of repetitive communications
  • The AI-powered solution, specifying the tools, prompts, automations, or agents used
  • A live or recorded demonstration
  • An ROI projection: time saved per week, cost reduction, or quality improvement
  • A 90-day roadmap with quick wins in week one, habit-building milestones in month one, and advanced capability by the end of the quarter

Certification requirements: To receive the Certificate of Completion, participants must attend and actively participate in all 24 hours, complete the portfolio across the first seven modules, and deliver the capstone. Attendance is recorded at every session — the record forms part of your CAPG reimbursement documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this program really eligible for CAPG funding?

Yes. It qualifies under two of CAPG’s training categories — Digital & Technological Skills, and Business Process & Operations Management. It’s 24 hours of live instructor-led training delivered in Alberta by an arm’s-length third-party provider, which meets the program’s core requirements. Final approval always rests with the Government of Alberta, and we’d encourage you to confirm current terms at alberta.ca before applying.

How much will this actually cost me?

That depends on your cohort size and whether your trainees are existing employees or new hires. For existing employees, CAPG covers 50% up to $5,000 per person per fiscal year. For unemployed Albertans you hire and train, coverage rises to 75% up to $10,000 per person. Contact us and we’ll prepare a costed breakdown showing your net position.

When do I need to apply?

Before training begins — this is not optional, and applications submitted after a program starts are not eligible. Build in time for business registration and approval on the CAPG Portal, which happens before you can submit an application at all.

Do participants need any AI experience?

None. Workshop 1 assumes no prior knowledge. The program is designed for people who are curious but haven’t found a reason or a route in.

What if someone misses a session?

The certificate requires all 24 hours. Talk to us early — office hours can sometimes cover a missed session, but attendance is recorded and it forms part of your reimbursement documentation, so gaps matter.

Can you deliver this at our workplace?

Yes. In-person sessions can run at your site anywhere in Alberta, at our Edmonton facility, or as a hybrid. Training must be delivered in Alberta to remain CAPG-eligible.

We’re a non-profit / First Nation / Métis Settlement. Are we eligible?

Yes. CAPG is open to private sector employers, non-profit sector employers, and First Nations and Métis Settlements.

Who can’t be a trainee?

CAPG excludes company owners and shareholders, board or council members, family members, and temporary foreign workers. Trainees must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons entitled to work in Canada.
